Baby Names: Mighty God

"One of the exciting parts of having a child is picking a name. In different cultures around the world, including Biblical Israel, naming a child was a very important moment. A name can link a person it his or her family origins and to their culture; it can call God’s blessings onto the child; and it can even express the family’s wishes for how their life will play out. Several hundred years before Jesus was born, he was given a collection of prophetic names that expressed hope for what this little baby in the manger was going to bring to the world. This Christmas season, we will look at each of these names, and celebrate the joyous gift each of them represent for us. This week: ‘Mighty God.’
